Galley Progress III

We got all of our "pre-counter install" items done. Hopefully the counter will go in this week!

The photo is the new pull out in the under dishwasher cupboard. We've always kept pots and pans here and it's really a pain to get to the ones at the back. Now we have a full pull out shelf!

New wildcat INSTALLED!

Got the new wildcat and friction plates installed!

Counter Measures!

Sorry for the silly title, I couldn't resist. The counter installation contractor is here now. He uses special tape to outline the counter, then takes pictures a computer will use to cut the counter. Very cool!

Galley Progress II

Well we hoped to finish installing the dishwasher today but we were both sore and tired from yesterday so we opted for a lazy Sunday morning instead. It was almost noon by the time we headed out for breakfast and a trip to the hardware store. We needed to go to Orchard Supply and the closest one is about 40 minutes away. We decide to have breakfast near the store since there are lots of restaurants in the vicinity.

We checked out yelp and picked a high rated place that features breakfast all day. We pulled up to the Brentwood Cafe. It didn't look like much. We walked in and all the tables were full (good sign) so we sat at the counter. Our breakfasts were very yummy and it was definitely worth the drive and it was good to have a full stomach before heading to OSH for another frustrating visit to the plumbing aisle.

We were able to find most of what we needed but there is one connection we were struggling with. It is always a challenge to work on the boat plumbing as it is always difficult to find fittings that will go from the plastic tubing of the boat water lines to home plumbing fixtures. We finally gave up and went to West Marine. We thought we'd found what we needed but when we checked it out back at the boat... Nope. At that point we decided to head home and try to find something on line to work. There has to be SOMETHING! To be continued...

Galley Progress

We had an ambitious goal to have the dishwasher fully up and running today. We didn't pull that off but we were able to get the space ready to accept it (with only two trips to the hardware store!) so we should be able to finish tomorrow.

And in another piece of good news, we'd been mental preparing ourselves to self install the Corian (ordering from solidsurface.com) when I got a quite reasonable installation quote this morning! I'll be calling for details this week but we're optimistic.
